The vase is potted with a dish-shaped mouth and a long, slender trumpet-form neck, narrow at the top and gradually widening towards the base. It has full shoulders, the body flaring outward from the belly to the lower section, and a flat base. The vessel is covered overall with a pale celadon glaze of quiet, refined beauty, its soft tone resembling still lake water and its surface thick and lustrous.
Applied to the neck is a chilong dragon, modelled in a naturalistic manner with meticulous and lifelike detail. Its body stretches across the neck, the four claws closely adhering to the surface, while the twisting form gives a sense of agility and strength. The design is ingenious and distinctive, creating the impression of a flying dragon in the sky and producing a unique artistic effect.
The base is covered with a brown dressing. The underside is inscribed in underglaze blue, within double circles, with the six-character mark in two vertical lines in regular script: “Da Qing Yongzheng nian zhi” — “Made in the Yongzheng reign of the Great Qing dynasty.”
