盘敞口，浅弧壁，浅圈足。盘内壁釉色亮青，釉面润泽，纹饰繁密，布局紧凑，以五彩饰玉宇琼楼图，人物形象灵活多变，生动传神，用笔工整细腻，色彩鲜艳，笔触洒脱清新；外壁绘折枝花卉纹三朵，底心青花双圈内书“大清康熙年制”六字双行款。器足为内外两重圈足，内圈足略浅，由外圈足支撑，这是圈足称为“二层台圈足”，又叫“双圈足”，流行于康熙早期景德镇的瓶、罐、盘等器物。

康熙时期，五彩瓷的工艺制作技术突飞猛进，使康熙五彩进入空前绝后的鼎盛时代。《饮流斋说瓷》载：“硬彩华贵而深凝，粉彩艳丽而清逸。”《陶雅》曰：“康熙彩硬，雍正彩软。……康彩浓奇，雅彩佚丽；戈甲恢奇，花鸟佚丽。”所谓“硬彩华贵而深凝”“康彩恢奇”等，其实都是强调康熙五彩画风中硬朗有力、工致精丽的特征。

The dish is potted with a flared mouth, shallow rounded sides and a shallow ring foot. The interior is covered with a bright bluish glaze of lustrous quality. The decoration is dense and compactly arranged, painted in wucai enamels with a scene of celestial palaces and figures. The figures are varied in pose and lively in expression; the brushwork is neat and refined, the colours bright, and the handling fresh and spirited. The exterior is painted with three sprays of flowering branches. The base is inscribed in underglaze blue, within double circles, with the six-character mark in two vertical lines: “Da Qing Kangxi nian zhi” — “Made in the Kangxi reign of the Great Qing dynasty.”

The foot is formed with two concentric foot rings: the inner ring is slightly shallower and the vessel is supported by the outer ring. This type is known as a “two-tiered ring foot”, or “double ring foot”, and was popular on vases, jars, dishes and other wares produced at Jingdezhen in the early Kangxi period.

During the Kangxi period, the production techniques of wucai porcelain advanced dramatically, bringing Kangxi wucai to an unprecedented height. The Yinliu zhai shuo ci notes that “hard colours are sumptuous and deeply concentrated, while famille rose is brilliant and elegant.” The Tao ya states: “Kangxi enamels are hard, Yongzheng enamels are soft… Kangxi colours are strong and extraordinary, while later colours are elegant and refined.” Expressions such as “sumptuous and deeply concentrated hard colours” and “strong and extraordinary Kangxi colours” all emphasise the vigorous, powerful, meticulous and richly refined character of Kangxi wucai painting.
