The bowl has a slightly everted rim, rounded sides and a ring foot. Double underglaze-blue line borders encircle the exterior below the rim, the lower body, and the area above the foot. Both the exterior and the centre of the interior are decorated in the doucai technique with honeysuckle scrolls. The interior of the foot is inscribed in underglaze blue with the six-character mark in regular script: “Da Qing Yongzheng nian zhi” — “Made in the Yongzheng reign of the Great Qing dynasty.”

The painting is fluid, and the composition is open and graceful. Set against the warm, finely textured body and glaze, the decoration has the refined beauty characteristic of imperial wares. Honeysuckle scroll is a common decorative motif on early Chinese ceramics. Derived from the form of the honeysuckle flower, it carries the auspicious meaning of longevity and good fortune.
