The bowl is potted with a foliated rim, rounded sides and a ring foot. The body is decorated in underglaze blue and wucai enamels with floral motifs, further embellished with gilt highlights. The colours are rich and vivid, with red, green and blue harmoniously combined, while the gilding adds a heightened sense of luxury. The inner rim is decorated with a beaded border. Lotus-petal designs are incised on both the interior and exterior walls, and the lotus-petal panels around the lower section are painted with sprays of flowering branches. The exterior is painted with the Eight Immortals, each figure shown in a distinct pose, echoing the immortal riding a raft depicted in the centre of the interior, and conveying auspicious meaning.

Kangxi imperial porcelains decorated in underglaze blue, wucai enamels and gilding are rarely preserved. This foliated bowl is not only finely and regularly potted, but also displays the refined craftsmanship and auspicious imagery characteristic of Qing court taste. It is an exceptional example of Kangxi imperial porcelain, with high artistic and collecting value.
