The vase is potted with a flared mouth, a waisted neck, a cylindrical body and a flat base. It is covered overall with a transparent glaze, the surface lustrous and faintly bluish in tone, and is decorated in underglaze blue. Below the mouth rim is a band of alternating large and small stylised inverted plantain leaves. Around the body is a continuous scene of prayer and blessing.

In the scene, a court eunuch stands before an altar table with an incense burner, holding a ceremonial tablet, while an attendant behind him is also shown in an attitude of prayer. Two immortals emerge from a celestial mountain riding auspicious clouds, and two boys in front of the altar look on with curiosity. The cobalt blue is well modulated between rich and pale tones, creating clear layers. The figures are rendered with both spirit and form, the rocks are arranged with natural variation, and the overall style is fresh and unforced, displaying the distinctive characteristics of Chongzhen-period blue-and-white porcelain.
